Product Review - Skinners

Skinners dog food

It was a comment on a dog forum that allerted me to Skinners and the interesting (if somewhat confusing) range of foods which they supply.

Basically, Skinners produce a 'working dog' food range (Field and Trial) which is VAT free and the Skinners range which is presumably for dogs which are not working. However, as far as the pet owner is concerned the important thing to remember is that working dog food is VAT free (or 17.5% cheaper than its equivalent non-working food).

I say this because there is very little difference between some of the foods in both ranges when you look at the ingredients and analysis, and energy levels are not that high for a very hard working dog. (Surely a maintenance diet for a working dog is just an ordinary dog food?)

Skinners foods start from around £16/15kg bag, but the better quality foods in their range are around the £20-24 mark from stores such as GJW Titmuss
